Be Kind, Be Brave, Be your best

Events: 2025-26

July 2026

Sea Mills Choir joined 16 other Leaf schools to sing their hearts out at The Bristol Beacon.  What a night!  They did absolutely brilliantly and were a credit to the school (they are in orange t-shirts).

July 26: Summer Reading Challenge

Vicky from Sea Mills Library came in to lead an assembly about the summer reading challenge! All children have been given a token to join. Happy reading.

June 26: Health & Fitness week

This term, the school enjoyed a Health & Fitness week. We welcomed sports coaches into the school for tag rugby, basketball and football. Everybody engaged in health and fitness activities all week and we celebrated our Sea Mills atheletes during our sports days too. Well done everybody!

June 26: Nature Club

Nature Club have been meeting after school all year to learn more about nature and take practical action to increase diversity on our school site. This term they have been replanting our raised beds!  Great work!

Term  6 – June

Our wild meadow is full of poppies and is attracting lots of pollinators!

Term 5: The Zoo that comes to Sea Mills

The theatre came to Sea Mills Primary School and Nursery at the end of term 5.  ‘The Zoo that comes to you’ was a fantastic mixture of puppetry, song and laughs that had the children entranced and was a great way to end the term.

Bristol Standard 2026

A big congratulations to all of our Early Years staff, from our 2YO Tulip room through to our Reception team.  They have worked very hard collecting evidence and developing their practice to a high standard to retain our Bristol Standard status for 2026 – 2027.  Please feel free to view our acceptance letter.  We are very proud of all of our research and efforts and we will continue to support your children with care, love and the best-informed teaching practice.

The Bristol Standard Quality Improvement Framework

“Improving on our previous best”

The Bristol Standard is a self-evaluation framework that is used by early years practitioners and play workers to enable them to take part in reflective discussions.   It supports a journey of continuous improvement.  It can be used effectively as a framework for action planning and is very useful as evidence for Ofsted and other stakeholders. The Bristol Standard brings teams together with a shared vision and supports ongoing staff professional development. Children are at the heart of the Bristol Standard.

Term 4: Year two had a fantastic time at the SS Great Britain!

They learnt all about Brunel, visited the ship and also enjoyed dressing up. We also had a brilliant workshop.

Term 4

We won a bike following our participation in Bikeability.  It was to be awarded to a year 6 child who took part in Bikeabilitiy and Serigne was drawn out of the hat.  He even got a helmet and lock 🙂.

Term 4

We have been discussing anti-racism across the school this week.  Here are some of the great posters year 5 designed.

Term 4

Reception have been watching eggs hatch a part of their enquiry ‘Are Eggs alive?’.  Today the ducklings visited Year 1.  The children were wonderfully calm and gentle which meant the ducklings were confident to explore!

Term 4 – Literature Festival

Ash Bond came and talked to us about her books and how to write a good story.  She signed our books too!

We loved ‘Drop Everything and Read’ during the Literature Festival and discovered you can read anywhere!

Term 4

Today in Early Years and Key Stage 1, we had a visit from the author Leonie Lord.  She shared her book with us and showed us how she drew the illustrations.  It was amazing!

Term 3 – Storytelling week

To celebrate the national year of reading we engaged in storytelling week. We explored storytelling and acting out engaging in music and rhythm even joining a live lesson with an Author. We also have been doing whole class reading sessions and learning new vocabulary. We then used this to engage in our writers lessons where we acted out bossy, imperative verbs!

Bikeability 2026

Year 6 showed resilience in some challenging rainy conditions to complete their Level 2 bikeability.  They practised on the playground before developing their road sense on local roads.

Bikeability 2026

Bikeability got off to a soggy start!  Despite the rain, everyone had a great time and practiced their cycling skills on the playground and/or on the roads local to our school.

December – KS1 Christmas Production

Well done to years 1 and 2 for a fantastic festive play ‘Penguin Pete’ where they all shone like stars! Thank you to all the families for coming.

December – Reception Nativity

Reception worked incredibly hard learning their lines and songs for their nativity play. The children performed at st Edyth’s church in front of their families, and they were absolutely wonderful!

November – Anti-bullying week

To mark Anti-bullying week, children and adults across the school took part in Odd Socks Day, a range of in-class activities, live online lessons and assemblies. The week ended with Children in Need so children and adults were invited to wear yellow or spots in honour of Pudsey Bear. The winner of the poster competition will be announced in Celebration Assembly.

Road Safety Week 2025

To mark Road Safety Week, children across the school took part in a range of activities to support them in staying safe whilst walking around in our local area. Here’s a few photos to show you what we got up to!

November 2025 – Road Safety Week

This week we have been learning about how to cross the road safely.
We made our own class ‘road’ and used small world resources to practically act out crossing the road.
Some of us then took this into our learning independently by designing our own road maps.

October 2025 – Cycle to School Week

This year’s Cycle to School Week got off to a great start! The bike shed was full of bikes, scooters and skateboards.

September 2025

Harvest Festival was a lovely celebration with all classes sharing Harvest Poems in the church.  We also sang Havest Songs including ‘Cauliflowers Fluffy’ of course!

August 2025

It was so lovely to see so many families at our Holiday Breakfasts.  There were even some special visitors!
