Term 6 – Thank you to Barry!
The Early Years Team would just like to say a very big thank you to Barry. Arne’s Dad has been so very kind and built so many things for our outside provision in Nursery and Reception over the last two terms. We hope that your children will enjoy all of the new outside activities and furniture that has been purchased to support your child’s fun and love for learning. Barry has spent a long time building for us all and we think he deserves a very big THANK YOU! We are so very grateful. These are just a few photos of some of the things that he has made.
Term 6 Look Draw Build:
In June, Year 5 participated in the Look Draw Build competition in which they had to design and make a train station using only the materials provided as well as considering sustainibilty. Year 5 were incredibly successful and came second out of several schools across Bristol and Reading. Year 5 were rewarded with several engineering books for the classroom as well as a plaque to display in school. We are incredibly proud of their creativity, perseverance and teamwork!
Term 5 – Year 2 Trip to Sea Mills Community Gardens
Year 2 were fantastic on their local walk to the gardens. We planted wild flowers, made birds nests and used clay to make eggs! We also went on a nature trail and used our senses to listen out for the bird song. Well done everyone for your brilliant participation.
March 2025
Sally from Alzheimers Society joined us to run ‘Dementia Friends’ workshops with classes across the schools. The children learnt how dementia affects people to help them understand an issue that is so common for families. Sally was very impressed with the questions the children asked and their interest.
Authors Week 2025
Sea Mills have had a wonderful Authors week. We had a visit from an Author called Tom Allen who shared his journey to becoming an Author before leading workshops for reading across the school. He then held a book sale after school and also gave us some of his books for our book corners and school library! We have also enjoyed a fabulous world book day where we dressed up as a book character, held classroom book swaps and a drop everything and read. Well done to all staff and children for their participation and hard work.
February 2025 – HInduism Assembly
It was great to welcome Uma to Sea Mills to tell us more about Hinduism.
Year 3 Term 2 – Roman Baths Trip
On Monday, we visited the Roman Baths in Bath. We had a great day! We explored the baths and the museum, dug up artefacts, dressed up as Romans, created mosaics, built bridges using ancient Roman techniques and learned about what took place in the baths. It was a fantastic day and we discovered lots of new information.
Year 5-6 Adventure Days to Mojo Active – September 2024
At the end of September, Year 5 and 6 took part in three days of adventure with Mojo Active. Sessions included: football golf, a climbing wall, paddle boarding, fire building, den and dam building, exploring tunnels, obstacle course, nerf ‘war, low ropes, high ropes and orienteering.
