We are Authors

Our Intent

We aim to inspire our pupils as authors both in their reading and writing.  Teaching using high quality texts and successful research-based methods we develop a love of language, books and writing in our children.  We aim to give children the essential language and literacy tools they need to fully access the curriculum, enjoy their learning and ultimately be successful in life!

‘English is both a subject in its own right and the medium for teaching; for pupils, understanding the language provides access to the whole curriculum. Fluency in the English language is an essential foundation for success in all subjects.’

Our Approach

English is a broad subject that encompasses many elements. This includes speaking, phonics, reading, writing, handwriting and spelling, vocabulary, grammar and punctuation. These different aspects are taught in approaches appropriate to the age and stage of the child through a combination of discrete and embedded sessions.
