Be Kind, Be Brave, Be your best

Our Vision

This is what we are aiming to achieve for all children:

At Sea Mills Primary School and Nursery we have high aspirations for every child and expect them to ‘Be their Best’. All children feel safe, confident and happy. Our children develop the knowledge and skills they need to thrive, contribute and succeed in the modern world. They are curious and ask questions, deepening their understanding of the world around them and developing their own opinions. Sea Mills’ heritage and community, along with family involvement, is central to our learning. On leaving us for the next stage of learning, every child will reach their full potential and celebrate their strengths across the curriculum including in reading, writing and maths. We will nurture resilient and confident learners with high aspirations. Our children will be kind, respectful and responsible, developing inclusive attitudes that celebrate our diverse world.

Our Core Values

Our ‘3 Bs’ are underpinned by six core values:

Be Kind

Kindness     Respect

We are kind to each other and always show respect to other members of the school community – pupils, staff, families, visitors. We are inclusive and celebrate the wonderful diversity of our school community.

What this means for our children:

  • Every child will enjoy school and get the support and challenge they need to thrive academically and personally.

  • A focus on language development and reading will ensure that every child becomes a confident, fluent reader with a love of books.

  • Access to the best teaching and resources, benefiting from expertise shared across the school and the Trust.

  • A broad and enriching curriculum drawing on Sea Mill’s and Bristol’s heritage and community, with high aspirations for all, regardless of background or need.

  • A priority on wellbeing and personal development, nurturing kindness, courage and a sense of belonging.

Be Brave

Courage     Resilience

We are brave in our learning and always strive for excellence. We show courage and resilience when faced with a challenge and never give up.

What this means for our staff:

  • Staff feel valued and supported to do their job to the best of their ability.
They feel listened to and can access high quality professional development and support.

  • Every educator is empowered to innovate and inspire within a school that is well-supported, well-
resourced, and free to focus on children’s learning and development.

  • Staff are highly respected by both children and the wider school community and promote the schools core values at every opportunity.

  • Opportunities for career progression within the school and Trust.

  • A shared commitment to excellence and inclusion ensuring that all children are supported to achieve
    their best.

Be Your Best

Aspiration     Responsibility

We always do our best and have high aspirations. We work hard and support each other. We take responsibility for our learning and our actions, acting as a team to make Sea Mills School a brilliant place to play, learn and grow.

What this means for our community:

  • A shared culture of respect, responsibility and high aspiration.

  • Partnership with families to ensure every child receives an excellent education and every family is supported to help their child to flourish.

  • Families are welcomed in school and feel confident to ask questions and request support.

  • Shared expertise and resources including help to access wider support services.

  • Families support the school’s inclusive approach and celebrate the diversity of the school community.
