Be Kind, Be Brave, Be your best

Year 4

Welcome to Term 2

We hope you all had a good, restful break after a busy first term and are looking forward to another exciting term! It has been lovely getting to know you and the children. We are also focusing on resilience for our Sea Mills Super Skills this term.
I will be very sad to say goodbye to Year 4 at the end of this term as I leave Sea Mills Primary School to start a new adventure teaching overseas. It has been a joy to teach your children, and I am incredibly grateful for all the kindness and support shown by our school community.
Please let us know if you have any questions or things you would like to discuss.

Homework

Reading to an adult is vital for their development, so please help your child to read at least 5 times a week.
Please also support your child by encouraging them to practice their spellings for the test on Friday, where they will also be rewarded for their scores..
They are also expected to practice their focus times tables weekly in preparations for the year 4 times tables check. There are also optional homework projects, which the children are welcome to show at the end of term.

Term 1: What is Creativity? – Part 2

Continuing this enquiry Year 4 studied ‘The Scream’ by Edvard Munch and we developed our understanding of oil pastels. This culminated in producing final outcomes where we made our own colour choices for our own versions of ‘The Scream’

Term 1: What is Creativity?

As part of year 4’s enquiry ‘What is creativity?’ we have been making artist notes about Edvard Munch. This involved researching facts about his life, creating colour swatches, identifying how we feel about his work and creating artist copies.
