Family Learning Conferences (FLC) are led by the child and are an opportunity for them to share with their families. The children discuss and show examples of work they are proud of and that show the progress they have made. They also discuss with their families what they would like to be able to do next. The teacher supports the child to prepare for this meeting and they support at the meeting by prompting the child and supporting with strategies families might try at home to help their child. These meetings are a lovely opportunity to see how proud your child is of their learning and it gives them ownership of their successes.
In the Three Year Old Nursery families are invited into the Nursery in small groups for a Stay and Play session. During this time the children are encouraged to show the families what they enjoy doing and something that they would like to be able to do but can’t do yet.
The Family Learning Conferences happen twice a year – at the end of term 1 and the end of term 4. Please see the school calendar for dates. The school then write a formal report which comes home to families at the end of term 6.
If you wish to have an appointment with a teacher to discuss issues without the child present, please either see the class teacher at the beginning/end of the school day or contact the school office and an alternative appointment will be made.
